The past 10 months have been unbelievable as far as losses go for us. First in October last year we suffered a stray dog attack, resulting in the loss of many birds. In May of this year we lost over 60 birds in two daytime fox attacks. The devastation left by the fox was heart wrenching, not only did the poor birds suffer but so did our business, all our laying birds were killed, as were our breeding flocks, along with this years growers.
However we are now back on track As I keep all my very young stock at home, they were fortunately spared the fox, so I at least have young birds from my own lines to build on for future generations. I was also lucky enough to buy hatching eggs from birds related to my lines, so all the years of hard work, breeding good quality birds has not been lost just put back a little..
All the paddocks now have 6ft+ electrified perimeter fences. Our next step is to buy in our laying hybrids and we will be all set for a successful new year - 2015.
I can only thank all my customers and friends for all their understanding, kindness and loyal support.
