The perfect garden hen and broody/mother
The Pekin is a true bantam, in other words a miniature chicken with no large fowl counterpart.They are a very popular breed due to their exceptional friendly, gentle character, their small size and the abundance of feathers which also cover their legs and feet.
The Pekin comes in a wide range of colours and also in frizzled form. The hens often go broody and prove to be very good sitters and attentive mothers.
I keep a small mix flock. The head of the flock is a frizzled lavender cockerel., he has a small harem of 6 hens, millefleur, and a lavender. As the cockerel is frizzled there is a 50% chance the chicks will be too.
